Then from there go to G3 within 1/2 year if your child is motivated. It easier that way.
I didn't say it out from my own experience.
In fact, I pushed my girls very hard.
Now the number 1 is revolting against it at sec sch.
The teachers complained during ptm why she never performed to her standard at psle
She failed at least 3 subjects from s1 - sec 4.. I am more or less used to seeing such grades. More like shocked proof...
She is well behaved in school. Don't give any disciplinary issues but just don't study.
Thats the results of forcing her in psle.. paper after paper.
And I never see the growth or improvement in it.
Children needs a reason why they need to do well.
They must be motivated.
Some can motivated by fear.
Fear is a good motivation. I used to fear getting scolding so I will study hard. We need to understand what's the motivation from our child.. then go from there.
Once they are at teenager years. It's very difficult to communicate with them at the same wave length when they are at psle.
So we must have good relationship with them. Yes, after doing the practice papers must show them the care and concern (unconditionally)
Ultimately, it's mental health and resilience they must have. Psle is a step in their lives
They too need to work on other things when they graduate.
There is always a path.
Don't be overwhelmed by current status.
Remind yourself. This too shall pass.
4 years later, it's another set of o levels challenge.
But your relationship with child must stay intact and good no matter what.. so they will confide in you even in sec school days.. then you can slowly influence them it's still crucial to study.
And pls don't compare yourself with others.
Don't blame yourself for not doing enough.
It's okay...
Esp for mothers. We often pit ourselves against others.. pls accept that you have done enough. Don't need to share the results of your child too when others ask
Just said they are okay. We are fine.
I never like sharing results. It's okay.
At the end of the day, you have done your best.
It's not the results but the processes that they keep trying.
This is what we need to imbue them with. The process of never giving up no matter where they are.
