My girl got al 1 for math and sci
4 and 5 for both languages at psle.

Now, she is doing alright with no tuition.
She doesn't have problems with math and sci at sec 2... Though will consider gg for a math tuition and chem next year to prepare for O levels.
We are looking fwd to going poly. jC is out as she dreads wearing uniform.
So.. depends on what is your goal for the child.

I have another child
Al 1/2 for English and math
Al 4/5 for mother tongue / sci.
She is taking o levels.
We are supporting her for tuition for 5 subjects.
Out of the 9 subjects she had.
Her O levels results for mother tongue came out.
She flunked from sec 1-4 with F9. Finally she passed for her O levels with intensive mother tongue and mother tongue tuition.
She vowed never to touch mother tongue.. so also gg poly.
For sci... She also flunked from sec 1-2...
Even at sec 4, she barely made it for sci.
So it really depends on the child's ability.
For my number 3, I'm gg to focus on sci.
Sci is v important.
Even for psle.
I discovered if their sci is good at p6, they basically should sail through sci at sec 1, 2...
Only sec 3 may need more help in coaching for new concepts.
